An excellent way of extracting a little more quality out of your AV or Hi-Fi kit. The AudioQuest NRG-X2 'figure of eight' mains cable features AQ's helical-array conductor layout; a balanced circular spiral geometry offering improved contrast and clarity over 'free-with-the-kit' standard issue power cables.

The AC power that feeds your gear is really the foundation of your system's audio and video performance. Even if you've plugged your components into a power conditioner to clean up the current coming out of your wall, a flimsy stock power cable can act as an antenna for airborne interference that subtly degrades high-resolution audio and video signals.

Cold Weld System

Cold Weld System

There are three accepted ways to make the connection between a cable and its termination. Solder is the most common method. Resistance welding is superior to even the best solder, however just like sold it introduces an inferior layer of differing material, causing distortion and reflections. AudioQuest's Cold Weld System solves this problem with a superior connection that insures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold Weld System refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of silver impregnated paste.

Helical Array Geometry

Helical Array Geometry

The relationship between conductors defines a cables most basic electrical values (including capacitance and inductance). However, even when those variables are kept in a reasonable balance, the relationship between conductors can be varied in ways that effect performance. Helical-Array (such as circular-spiral) construction allows for significantly better dynamic contrast and clarity than if the same conductors were run in parallel or as multiple twisted pairs.

Solid LGC Conductors

Solid LGC Conductors

Conductor material quality makes a world of difference in the sound of an audio cable. Since the surface of a conductor has 100% current density at all frequencies, the surface most defines the sound quality of the whole conductor. The less complicated grain structure and fewer impurities within Tower's LGC copper significantly reduce distortion compared to normal high-purity copper.
