XLR Plug Option Available

XLR Plug Option Available

AudioQuest Wild Dog is also available with XLR male or female terminations instead of the standard RCA plug connector shown here. If you require this option, just place your order as normal and contact us immediately afterwards to choose the terminations. Delivery may take a few more days for these options but a more accurate delivery date can be obtained from our staff.

With any flagship product, you expect to see the very best materials combined with unequalled build quality and a performance level that can take your breath away. Well, AudioQuest's Wild Dog doesn't disappoint with a finely crafted subwoofer cable that boasts solid 100% silver conductors - given the Perfect Surface treatment of course! The end-result of a lifetime of cable research but the only result that matters is the astonishing clarity, smoothness and authority that Wild Dog is capable of.

Let's talk about the conductor; without doubt the most important element of any cable. AQ have used nothing put 100% solid silver; which goes some way to explain the considerable financial investment it demands. The solid silver conductors are given the Perfect Surface treatment, a technique that eliminates strand interaction (being more like a long core of solid silver). A smoother and clearer sound is assured and contains less oxides, less impurities and fewer grain boundaries (where the end of one meets the start of another).

The scientists at AudioQuest after much research came to the conclusion that almost any material you use when insulating a cable disturbs the circuitry so Angel benefits from the addition of FEP Air-Tube insulation. This Fluoro-Polymer insulating component leave the conductors with a pocket of air completely surrounding them making huge step in dealing with the perennial issue of energy distortion. A battery-powered dielectric bias system (DBS) is added to the cable to further enhance the results zapping any build-up of negative energy which stores within the insulation.

For the terminations AQ strongly believe in a 'cold-weld' connection to avoid distortion caused by differing materials used for soldering and a better choice of metals that isn't dictated by machinery. The RCA plugs here are made from a purer 'Red Copper' which is again lavishly coated with silver. Other connections such as XLR male and female plugs are available on request at no extra cost too.

Wild Dog also comes complete with a useful grounding lug, which will help to eliminate any subwoofer hum you may come across ensuring you'll enjoy deep, rich bass with no distracting elements. Simply attach one spade lug to the metal chassis of the subwoofer's amplifier block and the other spade to the chassis of the AV receiver or amplifier. Excellent attention to detail yet again from AudioQuest! The next time you're considering an subwoofer upgrade, it could be better to invest in interconnects of this calibre instead.

AudioQuest Wild Dog Features

Solid 100% Silver Conductors

Solid 100% Silver Conductors

Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high-quality subwoofer cables like Wild Dog.

Solid Core Conductors

Solid Core Conductors

Strand interaction is the single greatest cause of distortion in cable, and one of the easiest to avoid. Whenever current crosses the oxidized contact between bare strands, the signal will be altered. In addition, the magnetic fields of the various strands are constantly interacting, causing confusion (smearing) and causing the contact pressure between strands to be constantly modulated. AudioQuest's solid core conductors are the complete solution to this problem.

AudioQuest Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System

AudioQuest Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System

Noise, in the form of RF energy, is the mortal enemy of good sound. Our environment is more contaminated with RF than ever before due to the huge proliferation of RF radiating devices like computers and mobile phones. Traditionally, RF energy is routed to ground through the use of a 'shield" consisting of either a braided metal or foil. This 'draining' of RF to ground causes a modulation of the ground plane, which in turn causes a form of signal modulation. 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment’s ground reference requires AQ’s Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching the equipment’s ground plane.

Cold-Welded Silver Over Red Copper System

Cold-Welded Silver Over Red Copper System

This plug design enables a perfect heat-free connection between cable and plug. The connection between the plug and conductors is made using AQ’s Cold-Welded System, which provides a superior connection that ensures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold-Welded System refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of copper- or silver-impregnated paste. (Wild Dog’s silver conductors get silver paste.)

FEP (Fluro-Polymer) Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation

FEP (Fluro-Polymer) Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. All of the AQ Wild Dog's conductors use Air-Tube Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy, and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP Air-Tubes used in Wild Dog have almost nothing but air around the solid 10% silver conductors.

Triple-Balanced Geometry

Triple-Balanced Geometry

The three conductors in “Triple-Balanced” Wild Dog cables ensure that whether prepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the positive and negative signals have equally low-distortion conducting paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as an inferior conductor.

Dielectric-Bias System

Dielectric-Bias System

All insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest’s DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarises (organises) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS battery packs will last for years. A test button and LED allow for the occasional battery check.
