Tell me about the VGA input on my Plasma/LCD

Many Plasmas and LCD panel come with a video input socket that is called VGA, XGA or SVGA and uses a 15 pin D-Sub socket that looks like this. This is designed to take a computer video signal and identical to the video inout socket that you find on your PC monitor. The signal that it receives is RGBHV, Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Snyc and Vertical Sync. Normal AV equipment such as DVDs and Sky Digibox's are not directly compatible with this. However you can buy a converter that takes the RGB signal from a SCART cable, converts it to RGBHV and send this out on a VGA cable that can plug into the screen socket. We initially sold units that had problems with synchronisation rates found on many screens. However, the current model we sell does not have these problems. It is also able to upscale the signal to take advantage of the higher resolution of XGA or SVGA if your screen supports these. The Presenter 1 can be found here.
