Connecting a Sony DAV Cinema System to a TV or Plasma
One of the commonest questions that we get from customers is "How do I connect my new Sony DAV Home Cinema to my TV, it hasn't got a SCART socket?"
The Sony DAV has three outputs for video. These are:
- Single phono composite video (poor quality)
- S-Video (good quality)
- Component video YUV with three phono sockets (excellent quality)
The problem is that most people do not have a TV with Component video so they cannot use this output. The Composite video is best ignored which leaves the s-video, which is our recommended option.
You are unlikely to have a s-video input on your TV. Even if you have one it is usually inconveniently located at the front for connecting a camcorder. So the best option is to buy a S-video to SCART cable such as the QED AV12. You can get these by clicking ,
