The Chord Chameleon Plus is a serious interconnect for enthusiasts who have invested in quality equipment and want to get the best results possible for a reasonable investment.

At under £150 the Chord Chameleon Plus can hardly be called cheap but the next Chord interconnect above this is the Chorus 2 with an RRP of £250.

So the Chameleon Plus sits in a bit of sweet spot in the Chord range...within the bounds of what many would consider still affordable and yet delivering superb results.

The sound produced by this cable is dynamic and highly revealing with a rendition of instruments that is credible and believable.

'EXCELLENT UPGRADE THAT GIVES NOTICEABLE SONIC IMPROVEMENTS'

Strengths:

Used between Roksan Kandy CD & amp has widened the sonic range at both ends, improved separation of instruments and voices, given improved soundstage positioning and even revealed the occasional backing item (triangle in one place, tophat elsewhere) previously never heard.

Weaknesses:

No complaints at all re sound or build quality. I still find it hard to accept that I need to pay over £95 for a pair of connectors. But then, it's like anything else - you pay what it costs to get what you want/need. So I paid it anyway and now the cost has become irrelevant.

Overall:

Unless you already have very good interconnects indeed, a pair of Chameleons will give an audible improvement. A by-product of upgrading is that the VdH Name that they replaced now take the sound from my Yamaha KS580SE (yes, I still have a tape deck!)and that sounds better than before as well. So a double upgrade for the price of one. Value rating reduced only because of the cost, but it does seem like you get what you pay for.

'QUALITY AT A REASONABLE PRICE'

Strengths:

Good all rounder. Not overly expensive.

Weaknesses:

None really, other than on two different sets, a phono plug came off!

Overall:

This is a quality cable that just gets on with the job. To my ears it is neutral, and lets detail come through, whilst bass is very good. I have used this in the past as the link between cdp and pre, and am currently using the xlr version between pre and power amps. It is a "safe" buy.

Strengths:

Superb sound, natural, well balanced Very flexible High quality phono plugs, also available as an XLR cable Well screened

Weaknesses:

Could be a problem if the buyer has an aversion to the colour blue!

Overall:

Very flexible cable that works extremely well, upgrading from this cable is very expensive. Probably a reasonable price/performance compromise that gives superb performance at the price. I use this cable for all the signal level connections in my system, including using it in its XLR version with Neutrik XLR plugs.
